Frantz Zephirin was born in Cap Haitien on December 10, 1968. He learned to paint at the same time that he was learning to read and write. He started by watching his uncle, the Haitian painter Antoine Obin, at work. By age seven, determined to try his hand at painting, he would steal paint from his uncle, housing it in tiny bottle-caps. He moved to Port-au-Prince and became associated with the Galerie Monnin. Zephirin was not very successful Painting in the Cap Haitien style. Frustrated, he began painting people as animals with his own style. It was then his talent, unlimited imagination and perfectionism came to light. Zephirin has exhibited internationally, and won numerous awards for his outstanding work. Still quite a young artist, he is already considered as one of Haiti's best.
