Janvier Louisjuste is considered one of the great Sculptors of Haiti. His use of powerful, unworldly images from the depths of Voodoo tradition are most evident in this strong and unique work. In the exhibition catalogue of a major show of Haitian Art, Tracing the Spirit, from the Davenport Museum of Art, it states: " Haitian artists who work in metal, and Janvier Loiusjuste is one of the best, rarely depict elements of the world outside of Haiti.
