His family belongs to the elite of Haitian society, a position that enabled him to become an actor, singer, and a dancer. He studied drawing and painting at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. In 1965, he won first prize at the Esso Salon Competition. Jerome is reputed for the originality of his paintings, particularly those of nude females. He was awarded an art scholarship by the American government in 1970. He returned to Haiti in 1973 and taught at the School of Fine Arts in Port-Au-Prince. Jerome artwork has been exhibited in Canada, Brazil, Latin America, Senegal, Martinique, Santo Domingo and the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Jerome’s career was cut short by his sudden death in 1991.
