Joseph Jacob was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on March 19, 1924. He studied art and drawing with Price and Pinchinat. Within three years he had developed his own unique style. His work is characterized by a technique of painting with dots and by expressions of sorrow on the faces of his art subjects. He joined the Centre d'Art in 1945 after studying at the Foyer des Arts Plastics. After graduating at the academy, he taught drawing at l'Education National at Port-au-Prince. Jacob participated in diverse expositions at home and abroad. He lived in the United of States for about ten years. He is a founding member and ex-treasurer of the l'Association des Artistes du Foyer des Arts Plastics. He is currently the President and owner of Coin d'Art gallery. Joseph Jacob died in 2006.
