“This energetic scene features a group of people engaged in a voodoo ceremony. The woman dressed in white is called the Houmfors. Each Houmfor represent a unique Loas. The other women are wearing colored scarves on their heads in order to entice the loas to honor the ceremony with their presence. Both men and women are engaged in rigorous dancing around a wooden pole, commonly known as a Peristile. The scene also depicts a ritual bottle, and bowls to pour libation for the loas. To one corner of the room are two men beating drums that serve to assist in summoning the Loas.”
