Louis Joseph

Louis Joseph was born 1944 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. After primary education in Ecole Cegui-Vilvalexte, he began painting under professor Robel Paris at the Centre d’Art in 1951. Illustrations of his paintings can be seen in John Allen Franciscus book, "Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera".

“This energetic scene features a group of dancers performing a voodoo ceremony. In the painting there are veves drawn on the floor and three lit candles that serves to summon the spirits. Leading the celebration is a man beating a drum that serve to assist in summoning the Loas. This painting is framed masonite on board; Signed Lower Right, "Louis Joseph 74". ”
