Michel Rouanez Jean was born on January 1, 1956. He was the son of the legendary Haitian artist Dieudonne Rouanez. His father taught him his techniques in painting. Like his father, Michel became a master colorist. His paintings are very bright with colorful detail, depicting market and voodoo scenes. Michel's works were shown in a group exhibition in Martinique in 1993, then in two shows at the Musée du Pantéon Nationale in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1995. He has had held many exhibitions in Haiti and in Japan.
“Haitian artist Michelle Rouanez a brilliant colorist, captures this market scene. Haitian daily life consist of going to the market to buy or sale fruits and vegetables. This is an early work of Rouanez.”
